SmartHolds

Something similar to this has been done in Sweden by DigiWall it is a static wall. The whole point is to create a more interactive climbing wall experience. Eventually it could be used on static walls, the only major drawback on large indoor gym walls would be providing power to each hold. Wiring each hold would be really annoying and would require a gym to maintain the wiring. It would also pose an electrocution risk to climbers.

Power

This could be an answer for the power issue. At the very least it is interesting. http://bea.st/sight/levitation/

Tread Wall

The tread wall is a vertical treadmill. These already exist. I chose a tread wall as a start due to its limited size. It's rotation can also be exploited to create a charging system that charges the SmartHolds without also connecting the climber to the power bus. Charging can occur as the planks move up the back side of the wall and the holds can run on stored power while on the climbers side of the wall.
